THE HISTORY

JOSE LUIS SOLIDUM MORALES of Alcantara, Romblom, Philippines was so amazed in the beauty of chess that he started dreaming inventing another board game called MINERO.

He is formerly the incumbent Vice-Mayor of Alcantara, Romblon. In the early days of 1998, he invested his time conceptualizing Minero to the point of discarding his political ambition refusing opportunities locally and abroad to pursue the completion of his masterpiece.

MINERO is a Spanish word means "treasure hunter", miner in English term. It is a literal combination of word MINE meaning treasure and RO for Romblon, the inventor's provincial place of origin also known as Marble Capital of the Philippines.

Minero aims to forster goodwill and diplomatic relations among people.

5. Joker - the Momo

CLIFF HUNTER

• Cliff hanging
• Jumping
• Mountain climbing

ORDINARY HUNTER

• Assigned specific purpose to all hunters

TUNNEL HUNTER

• Tunneling
• Crawling

ANCHOR HUNTER

• Skilled in the seas
• Diving
• Swimming

MOMO THE JOKER

• Initially stay at the center
• The treasure guard

MOVEMENT OF THE HUNTER

1. CLIFF HUNTER

Can jump over an opponent provided the land beside the hunter is open or unoccupied.

2. ORDINARY HUNTER

Transfer hunter from one site towards another site either 1-step move or long transfer move provided it follows a straight line pattern.

3. TUNNEL HUNTER

Follow diamond path landing on the other end only.

4. ANCHOR HUNTER

Can do diagonal, vertical, horizontal turn.

Can move upward, downward or sideward.

5. MOMO THE JOKER

Instead of doing a "passmove" , players may choose to move it as a defense maneuver or for positional advantage.
