When I was young,( when I was only in the middle school) every morning, me and my relatives usually go to the seashore. One day, someone blocked my way extending his two hands in the air saying , "Hey, you, when you grow up, I will woo you". I don't know what should be my reaction on that unexpected experience. Embarrassment arise when the people around us teased us when they heard what he said but I managed my composure and tell him to get out of my way. I run to get away from him. Somehow, in the back of my mind, I kept the words he said and wishing that someday, our road will cross. From then on, I avoided not to pass again in front of their house when we go to the seaside.
Time rolls fast. Now, I'm already a lass but still I didn't met him. I don't know what was his looks now. I'm not sure too if he still remember the little girl he blocked.
THE INTRODUCTION
I am not an outgoing type of teenager. I usually leisure my time in reading pocketbooks and studying my school lessons.
One night, when I was in my room, I heard voices, talking and laughing. My elder sister arrived from somewhere, maybe from her friends. She is a happy-go-lucky girl while I am an aloof type. I am a homebody. I peeped to know who was our visitor that night and saw a familiar face. I'm thinking where did I saw her companion. Flashback.............. Flashback................. Flashback............ Eureka! He is my....................... Oh, no! The boy who blocked my way! I was really excited then.
My sister noticed me and called me. She introduced me to him.
" Andy Boy, this is Maribeth, my younger sister, Maribeth, this is Andy Boy, the boyfriend of Elsa, my best friend. He is my classmate when I was in my elementary grade."
Ouch! already taken, I secretly told to myself. We exchanges hi and hello, then, I left them.
GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER
Since we've met, I noticed he often hang-out in our vicinity. He became the favorite of my relatives for being so affable. Sometimes, he will go to our home looking for my sister, there, they will talk while I'm in the corner of our living room busy in my own world. From time to time, I will glance at them. One time, I caught him staring at me and he caught me also staring at him. When our eyes met, we both smiled and both of us turned our eyes in different direction.
Out of curiosity perhaps, he started asking questions about me to all of my relatives who are my suitors or do I have a boyfriend. All of them have one answer, I'm available and still searching the right man.
One day, he asked me if ever he gave me something, what will be the thing I will like most. "Thing? Let me think first", I said. When I was in high school, I love to collect stationaries. I need it when giving greetings to my friends and classmates during recollections and feastdays. ( I studied in catholic school that's why we had that kind of celebrations). We will simply leave our greetings posted at the door of their classrooms.
" I want stationary", I replied. "Ok", he said then he left. When he came back, he's holding the stationary I want and give it to me. I thank him for his present. I open it, in the first page of it, there was stickers saying " I love Jesus" and " I love you". " What's the meaning of these?", I asked him. "Don't you know what does it mean?" I know, but you have girlfriend". " She's just my girlfriend and not my wife yet", he said. I nodded. "Ok. But will you please give me enough time to think about it". " Why not now?" "Later", I said.
The next day, he go to our home . My uncle and dad is in the living room talking about the upcoming town fiesta over a bottle of beer. They are so busy that they cannot see what this guy is doing. He blocked again my way and asked me when will I answer him to be his girl. " Will you please go away, my uncle would see us. My mom will get angry if she'll know what you are doing". "No! I won't until you don't answer me. I don't care what will they say". " Ok, ok. From now on, I'm your girl. Just stop this foolishness, ok?" " If you really my girl now, can we sealed it with a kiss? Shocking!" This is too much, you know? You're taking advantage of the situation. Do I have any choice?" We sealed it with a kiss and the rest is history.
THE ROMANCE
Our relationship lasted for almost seven years. I use to call him Tito Al. AL is his name initial. He call me LOVE. As a boyfriend, he is sweet and loving. The only thing I don't want to this guy is he's the jealous type. Common for him is to collect girlfriends and I'm one of those. Very playboy I should say.
His attitude is not a great deal for me. He can collect and select among us. I remember what my mom says to me. Consider the boy as a dry sand. No matter how tight you hold these sand, it will still fall to your hand so when I got him as a boyfriend, I allow him to woo other. Anyway, he is not totally mine.
My parents doesn't know this relationship. Often times,when we will go to school, he will wait me a few blocks away from our house. We have different school so we go to school early. In the afternoon, he will fetch me. It became a routine. For sure, if he can't fetch me, he is with his other girlfriend's company.
When we are together, he always hold my hand. Sometimes, he will put his arms around my shoulder. He stands 5'5 in height while I stand only 4'11 in height. He would teased me. " It's too tiring to put my arms around your shoulder, what if I put it in your head instead? " You're so annoying", I will say, pinching him a little then he will pull me closer and will embrace me kissing my hair. " Just kidding".
Tito Al doesn't want to see me sad and crying. The good thing why I like him. If the situation is like that, he will comfort me promptly. Maybe he had many flings but he doesn't want me to be hurt .
